2023 Golden Globes: RRR, directed by SS Rajamouli, was nominated in two categories. The song “Naatu Naatu” from the movie was named the Best Original Song.
2023 Golden Globes UPDATE: The 80th Golden Globe Awards were presented on January 11 in Los Angeles (IST). The award for Best Original Song went to the Indian movie RRR for “Naatu Naatu.” MM Keeravani, the music director, accepted the award.
“Naatu Naatu” was up against “Carolina” (Taylor Swift) from Where the Crawdads Sing and “Ciao Papa” in the Best Original Song category (Alexandre Desplat, Roeban Katz, and Guillermo del Toro) – “Hold My Hand” from Pinocchio by Guillermo del Toro (Lady Gaga, BloodPop, and Benjamin Rice) – Top Gun: Maverick (Terms, Rihanna, Ryan Coogler, and Ludwig Göransson) and “Lift Me Up” – Wakanda Forever: Black Panther.
The movie received a nomination for Best Foreign Language Film as well. Argentina defeated RRR, in 1985 in the category for Best Non-English Language Film. Germany’s All Quiet on the Western Front, Belgium’s Close, and South Korea’s Decision to Leave were the other contenders in this category.
The Banshees of Inisherin received Best Musical/Comedy Motion Picture, while The Fabelmans won Best Dramatic Motion Picture. Best Actor and Actress in a Motion Picture – Drama awards went to Austin Butler (Elvis) and Cate Blanchett (Tar). The Best Actor and Actress in a Motion Picture – Comedy/Musical awards went to Michelle Yeoh (Everything Everywhere All at Once) and Colin Farrell (The Banshees of Inisherin).
The Fabelmans earned Steven Spielberg the Best Director award.

Following RRR’s Golden Globes victory, singer Adnan Sami and Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Jagan Mohan Reddy got into a verbal altercation over Sami’s “Telugu flag statement.” Adnan was reprimanded by Minister Rajni Vidadala for “overthinking” when she entered the argument.
Adnan Sami, a singer, retaliated against Rajni Vidadala, an Andhra Pradesh minister, when she attempted to correct him for calling Jagan Mohan Reddy, the chief minister of the state, a “separatist.” Reddy had praised the RRR crew for winning the Golden Globe, saying that “the Telugu flag was flying high.” In response, Adnan Sami claimed that it was the “Indian flag” and that this statement was “separatist.” Vidadala got involved in the argument and attacked the musician for equating pride and secession. Instead of overanalyzing on Twitter, perhaps you might attempt to get another Golden Globe for India, she said.

I visited the TCL yesterday since it was something I’d always wanted to do, and my mind was blown. That response was on par with what was seen in cinemas at home. I just adored it. The acceptance of RRR by the audience as a whole is already a very significant honour.”
